Description

James Edward Talmage (September 21, 1862 – July 27, 1933) was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1911 until his death in 1933.

Jesus the Christ is a doctrinal study on the life and ministry of Christ, and is a widely appreciated document among Latter-day Saints. The book consists of 42 chapters, each focusing on important aspects of the life and mission of Jesus as the Messiah.

Since it was first published in September 1915, Jesus the Christ has been viewed by the LDS church as a classic text on the LDS church's teachings and beliefs concerning the life and ministry of Jesus. Elder Marion G. Romney said, "One who gets the understanding, the vision, and the spirit of the resurrected Lord through a careful study of the text Jesus the Christ by Elder James E. Talmage will find that he has greatly increased his moving faith in our glorified Redeemer."

Included with this eBook is a second book by James E. Talmage titled The Story of “Mormonism.” It is a compilation of lectures concerning the origin and history of the Mormon Church given by Doctor Talmage at several universities prior to his call as an apostle.

The Jesus the Christ eBook uses the established Standard Works book reader already enjoyed by tens of thousands of users. It's also the same reader which powers our "U.S. Historical Documents" application which received a perfect 10/10 rating from AppCraver.com and was recently featured on the iTunes App Store.

The Standard Works book reader is simple to use, but also contains many advanced features not usually found in other eBook readers. Rather than continually flicking through little pages of text like some book readers, the Standard Works book reader displays an entire chapter or book at once for you convenience. The text can even automatically scroll for you in both portrait and landscape modes while reading. You can even highlight important words or phrases using the absolute best highlighting system available on the iPhone platform. Create notes for each paragraph which can be displayed inline and assign bookmarks to any paragraph in any book for future reference. And if that's not enough, quickly and easily find any text from any book with the fastest and most powerful search engine available on the iPhone.

The Standard Works book reader contains the following main features:

• Auto-scrolling (both variable-speed and tilt-based, portrait and landscape modes are supported)

• Adjustable fonts, size, colors, margins, spacing, and alignment (you can even adjust the font size by using a pinching gesture while reading!)

• Highlighting - 12 background colors, 12 foreground colors, bold, italic, and underline

• Night (low-light) mode - Black background with white text

• Application tips

• Bookmarks and even folders of bookmarks

• Last location in each book is remembered

• When re-launched, you're returned to the exact location you were last at while reading

• Search for words or phrases with INSTANT search results

• Powerful advanced search options

• Create notes for each paragraph which can be displayed inline

• Animated satin bookmark (similar to the one in the Classics application)

• Ability to choose the application's color theme

Absolutely amazing!

:
I can't believe I stumbled across this app! It was just uploaded to the app store today and I think I'm the first to review it. A must have for sure and at .99 it's unbelievable. The search function alone is wonderful, its extremly fast. Truly an inspired work that I have loved reading over and over through the years. This eReader makes it very navigable and easy to access. An option to change languages would be great even if it meant providing a more enhanced version that cost a little more. Despite being a fairly long book the program loads instantly. Selecting between chapters is almost automatic. I really like the auto scroll function. You can alter the speed to your liking. I also like how an entire chapter is displayed at once instead of having to flip between each page. It makes continuous reading a lot more fluid and natural on such a small screen. It's a wonderful time we live in when we are so blessed by the advances of technology. If you've never read Jesus the Christ, please check this book out. I guarantee you will feel a closeness and love for our Saviour more profound in your life than you have ever experienced.
